Ever since we moved here, we wanted to participate in the loca fair. It wasn’t until 2 years ago that we actually did. This year is our third year. Today we went to the fair grounds to see who won what. This is not extensive and some of the things we don’t know if they placed or not. The 4th and 5th place winners get participant ribbons. They were labeling items while we were there, so I’m not sure about a few of them. Anyway, here goes… in random order….

Kevin was showing me some of his wonderful pictures and I mentioned that a blog post would be nice. I’ve been waiting for him to put them on my computer. While looking for some pictures the other day I ran across Kevin’s. I wonder how long they have been there. Enjoy Kevin’s Spring at Bodenburg 2013…
And, finally, a self-portrait….
We were there to see Dutch Masters. James looks at a Rembrandt painting of Jesus’ face and says to me, “I like the frame better than the painting.”
Edited to add what my friend who went with me heard (she’s got the better memory):
Can I go to the next room.
Look at that drunk guy.
Can you hold me.
Where are the statues?
That guy has a big honker (oh wait, that was YOU! LOL!).
look at the cute dogs.
Look at the depth perception in that painting.
Here goes mom talking about depth perception again.
Look at the lighting on that – it’s beautiful.
There’s a ship.
Can we go to the children’s playroom yet.
Why do you think I would be good at being the drunk in that painting – I’m offended.”
Do you remember Bob Ross, the painter, and his happy little trees? This Christmas brought a Bob Ross DVD. The children had never seen him or really heard of him. We spent New Year’s Eve day watching the DVD. On New Year’s Day we found ourselves at Hobby Lobby and Kevin bought a knife. He came home and worked on a painting. Here it is…
Also, the other day we were leaving to go to Mass. On the way out I could not help but to stop and take a photo of our Rosey Toes kitty cat…
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. And have a blessed New Year 2013! God bless!
Here are Kevin’s Saint peg dolls. He took the pictures and I found them on my camera! Enjoy!

When we started the Alphabet Path, I asked one of our resident artists if he would like a project to work on. He accepted and has started working on little peg people saints. For the Confirmation at our parish he also made little peg saints for all the confirmandi. These are a few of the beginning pictures. Kevin has done several more, but the pictures are not on my computer.
St. George, St. Francis, St. Dominic Savio, St. Charles Borremeo, St. Bernard, little Mary to go with St. Anne, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton hiding behind St. Anne, and St. Helen.
We have a book on wildlife in art that the children’s cousin sent them for Christmas, I think it was last year. St. Nicholas brought a variety of art supplies last night, so James was inspired! Here are a few of his works from today. While you look at these keep two things in mind. First is you may click on the images to see bigger pictures. Second, my scanner only scans 8 1/2 by 11 and smaller, so some of the drawings have been cut off a bit.
The first one reminds me of something that my sister would have hanging in her house…
And James’s favorite…
