Well, perhaps not events, but happenings.
Falls Mill, TN
One day we took a field trip with our homeschool group to Falls Mill, Tennessee. It was a lovely place to visit and we would really like to go back there again to learn a little more. They still run the old mill with a big wharf wheel. (Is that what they are called?)
John and Kevin were in their first parade. They were the flag holders for their boy scout troop.
During the parade, our friends, the Jones Family, found us and sat with us. Then they invited us over to their house. That is always a treat. When we left there we went to go see the Gabbetts. It turned out to be a really nice day.
In March, my friend Judy McCloskey of CatholicMil.org called and asked if I could man a booth at something called “Springfest” in Shelbyville, TN. I must admit, I was excited, yet skeptical. There is not much Catholicism in middle Tennessee. When I inquired further, she said that Cardinal Arinze was one of the speakers, along with former Miss America Kay Lani Wilson, and Fr. Jonathan Morris of Fox News. Wow! I was starting to get excited.
When May 17th rolled around, we got all set and drove to Shelbyville. Upon entering the equestrian center, the person at the door said, “You have blue tickets so you can sit in any of the metal chairs.” The metal chairs were set up in the arena where the alter was set up. If you didn’t have blue tickets, you could only sit in the arena seating. As we went towards the steps, we saw where our booth was going to be set up. As we were going down to the Mass area we saw a couple we knew and asked them if they wanted some of the blue tickets to be closer to Mass. When we got down there, we were looking for 7 seats in a row so we could sit together, and some gracious lady flagged us down and gave us seats in the second row. When Mass began it was wonderful to see the Knights of Columbus, the seminarians, the Bishop, and Cardinal Arinze. We received Communion from Cardinal Arinze! What a blessing. Here are some pictures from the Mass:

(Our friend Seminarian Brendan Johnson whom we got to know last year when he spent time at Sacred Heart in Lawrenceburg. You can go back to this post and see him with the children.)
After Mass we set up our booth. Everything would have been great if I had remembered the price list that I printed the night before. We were able to get in touch with Judy and she gave me the prices. Everything else went great that day. Here is our booth…
You can read more about Springfest here (look for Veronica and I in the picture. And no, we were not holding hands! ; )
They were in our neighbors’ horse pen under a bush hog. The children have moved them to our front porch. We’ll see how long Fancy lets them stay there. I’m hoping to get some pictures later, but we have a busy evening!
Our Nature Friend magazine came in the mail today. I got a hold of it first and went straight to the “You Can Draw” page where the polar bears were featured. I was very disappointed when Kevin and MaryEllen’s pictures were not in there.
We were on our way into town and John was sitting next to me looking at the magazine. He read, “Kevin Vogel age 10. Hey Mom, Kevin’s picture is in here.”
So, if you get your hands on a copy of the June 2009 issue of Nature Friend, you can see Kevin’s eagle picture on page 13. I hadn’t even see it before he sent it off, so I don’t have a copy to scan!
6 kittens. We locked the barn stall that she was in, but the children went into the stall next to it and were able to get in that way. Then we locked that stall as well. Reports then came in from the small children that they were climbing in another way! So, Fancy moved her kittens. We don’t know where yet, but I’m sure that Joe will find them soon.

Aloysius being Confirmed…
Edited to add…Jennifer has a lovely post about the day at her blog. Jennifer is so much better versed about some of the symbolism that day.
This next picture is not from Confirmation, but is for my Mom who has internet access today:
