The children and I took a trip on beautiful December day to Hanceville and Cullman, Alabama. The first stop was to the beautiful Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament. We saw the new Lourdes replica and the outside of the John Paul II Eucharistic building. There is a beautiful bronze statue of the late Pope. They have also added a new fountain that is a nice touch at a crossroads place on the walking path.
I didn’t think the children would really enjoy the grotto too much because we have been there a few times. I was mistaken. They loved it and were finding all kinds of images in the miniature cities that they had either forgotten about or were seeing for the first time. Ave Maria grotto is a place where you can spend hours looking and/or visit several times.
A little later in December, we were surprised with a visit by our good friends Maddie & Glenn from New Jersey. They couldn’t stay too long because the weather was threatening to freeze farther north, but we did get to take them to the Shrine as well.
